Description

Comedian Mark Lundholm has spent over 2 decades making people laugh. Mark, a recovering addict, knows first hand that comedy and humor make facing painful and difficult aspects ofrecover easier. “If we can laugh about it, then we can talk about it”, says Mark. An important piece of recovery is having support, resources, and reminders to help us stay on the right track. In this spirit Mark got together with Jason & Carolyn Salter, a couple in early recovery,to create something special for the recovery community.

Recovery… The Board Game is a unique and fun experience. The game is great for recovering addicts, family members, and friends to be played around the kitchen table, or in a clinical environment with addiction professionals working with patients in group settings.

How To Play

Recovery..the board game is a humorous, share and stare, humbling, happy, healing process! it combines elements of all the games you enjoyed as a child, the lessons of adulthood, and the experiences of addiction and the recovery process shared by us all.

Game play involves playing cards, game pieces, and a comical game board that mixes a familiar look with a completely new experience . Players draw cards, follow suggestions, take direction from other players, attempt to move around the board accordingly. Players aim to avoid rock bottom and make it to the winners’ circle. Along the way, watch out for control issues, humility, narrogance, and all kinds of personalities before principles!

Clinical Uses

Recovery… The Board Game is currently used in hundreds of inpatient programs as an alternative “free time” activity, and as a clinical small group exercise to encourage sharing, discussion, and reinforcement of healthy behaviors.

The combination of diversity of subjects covered, and laugh-out-loud funny humor on many of the cards has yielded many positive comments from both primary clients and clinical professionals. Because of the nature of the subject material and unique experiences each client brings to the game, many clients will enjoy playing it over and over, yielding new insights and deeper understanding of the recovery process each time.
